Thoughts on a blog...

I have to admit I was not very impressed by this blog in the beginning. I may be responding to the more personalized manner of this blog, and thus lacking on the professionalism. I just was not initially drawn in by the content, presentation or author activity of this blog. However, this space does have many contributors who regularly comment on the posts and share their thoughts on the subject matter. Although, I don’t think I would include this particular blog on my internet rolodex, there are some interesting things on the blog space (once you get past all of the clutter).

Blog Search: Oh What a Find...

Discussing: "Bill Mackenty – technology strengths, deepens and broadens our learning…"

I decided to search for my educational blogs in a very simple and traditional way by googling teacher blogs, not imagining I would find anything of particular interest (yes, I know this was not very optimistic). However, I was pleasantly surprised as I ran across Bill Mackenty’s blog space. His blog is devoted to introducing teachers to ways to use and integrate technology into the classroom in an academic, yet fun, way. Looking through some of his past blogs, I learned more about technology I have been interested in, but haven’t researched independently such as Smartboards. His comments not only discuss his ideas (having actually used the resource) were helpful in providing commentary on it’s usefulness of this tool in the classroom. More importantly, this blog brings attention to other authors discussing the same theme. His blog also has a useful list of How To’s for the technological illiterate. Overall, I found his blog interesting and worth investigating on your own.

About this page...

Well, Hello! I plan to use this blog space as an area to discuss my findings and ideas related to new technologies, internet resources and combining computer programs and applications within the elementary classroom. I hope to discover, use and discuss new technologies which can be seamlessly integrated into lessons and the classroom environment as a whole.
